Ideas for Decorating, Organizing, and Making Over the Laundry Room

Laundry Room Decorating Ideas

Laundry Room Decorating Ideas are only limited by your imagination. Anything goes when it comes to decorating laundry central. Since it is a place that you have to spend time doing what many view as a dreaded chore, try to make the atmosphere as fun and enjoyable as possible. Here are some ideas to inspire you:

Hang a piece of clothes line or a sturdy string across one wall. Buy some baby clothes (check thrift shops and garage sales or use some of your children’s baby clothes that you have tucked away) and hang them from the clothes line with clothes pins. It’s a fun and whimsical piece of art work for the room.

Have blown up, black and white copies made of some of your favorite family photos and hang them in a grouping on one of the walls. If one of your walls is an accent wall with a bold color, this may be the best place to hang them as the contrast will provide dramatic results and make them really pop.

Buying vinyl wording to create whimsical sayings on the wall is very popular.  You could write something like "Laundry Room....Drop Your Drawers Here" or "Laundry Room...25 cents a load"

Vintage Signs also make great decor for the laundry room.  Decorating the walls with metal signs featuring old detergent advertisements or laundromats.  Laundry room art featuring pictures of antique laundry rooms also look great!

If you can get your hands some (or even one) antique wash boards, they make great laundry room decorations.

If you still need more ideas, spend an afternoon or even a weekend touring model homes in your area.  Builders hire professional interior decorators to decorate these homes and you can get some really great ideas from them.  My husband and I love touring models and we are often surprised by some of the creative things that are done.  One model we toured, the designer had taken a piece of white plastic lattice work (the type that is usually used outside) and hung it on one of the laundry room walls.  It sounds weird but it looked really neat especially since the wall was painted a deep burgundy red.  Really dramatic!

Watch home and garden makeover shows.  You can often catch an episode where a laundry room is featured and you can get some really great laundry room decorating ideas for them!

Remember to think a little outside the box and you will come up with some really great and creative ideas!
